The Answer Lies In The Black Void is a collaboration between Martina Horváth and Jason Köhnen. Horváth (also singer for the avant-garde metal project Thy Catafalque) and Köhnen (Celestial Season, The Lovecraft Sextet, Bong-Ra, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble), the duo also work together in their mystical electronica music project MANSUR.
Horváth and Köhnen joined forces through their passion for all things Doom, presenting their personal take on the Doom genre in all its beautiful darkness and from all possible angles. Bringing their own mix of Transcendental Metal.
After their immensely well received debut album ‘Forlorn’ (2021), The Answer Lies In The Black Void released their second album ‘Thou Shalt’ (2023) once again on Burning World Records. Recently signed to Lay Bare Records, the third opus 'Transcendental' is scheduled to be released on September the 27th 2025.
The Answer Lies In The Black Void performs live as a 5 piece, with Botond Fogl (guitar), Attila Kovacs (guitar) and Mark Potkovacz (drums) part of the full line-up.

THOU SHALT [2023]
FORLORN [2021]

SLEEPING SHAMAN - “closer to avant-garde than doom, more Sonic Youth than Saint Vitus. What really sets this apart from more classic doom offerings is the vocals, Martina’s voice soars above anything I would even consider standard in the genre”.
DISTORTED SOUND - "If Forlorn is truly an exploration into the interpolation of doom into otherworldly soundscapes, then they have crafted the year’s most beautifully bleak experiment."
ANGRY METAL GUY - “Forlorn is one heck of a debut”
